Chapter 11

Money and Leena hadn’t been on the best of pages these days and he was tired of the bullshit. He was ready to put it behind them and move on to bigger and better things. He’d planned this evening to a T. Money wanted this day to not only be special, but memorable. Even with all her dramatics and the attitude, he still thought she was a good woman and would make a great life partner. Opening the box for a final time, he marveled over the ring. It wasn’t anything over the top, but it wasn’t no cheap piece of shit either. It totaled seven carats with three stones set in an invisible setting representing the past, present and future. This was it, once he asked there was no turning back. Placing the ring, back in his pocket. He stepped out of his car, in a Steve Harvey Collection suit and tie. Smoothing his hand over his fresh waves, he felt naked without his hair. Yeah, he couldn’t believe it either. After many years debating, he finally cut his hair. It was time for a new life and a new him. Stepping into GMB Lounge, he headed straight to the back where he was sure Leena was working in her office. Knocking on the door, he waited until she gave him the okay to walk in.

“Why are you knocking?” she asked as she glanced his way and had to do a double take. “Look at you!” to say she was taken back would be an understatement, she almost didn’t recognize him. “And you cut your hair?” standing up from her seat, she had to touch it to make sure it was real. “Shit who died?”

Money looked at her and saw that she was serious. “Ain’t nobody dead,” he laughed at her sigh with relief. “Come take this ride with me.”

She looked at him through squinted eyes. “Where are we going? I can’t just leave work.”

“We’re going to lunch and your boss is giving you the rest of the day off.” He smiled as she looked at him wondering what he was up to. “Let’s go”

Slowly grabbing her things, she locked up and he led her out the door. Walking over to his car, he opened her door as she stopped dead in her tracks. “You’re not going to try to kill me are you?”

She said it jokingly, but he could tell she was serious. “If I wanted to kill you, you’d be dead already.”

Leena stared at him as she twisted her fingers. Taking a deep breath, she prayed getting in the car with him wouldn’t be the biggest mistake of her life. Money had never come at her like this and she didn’t know how to take it. As Money drove, she looked out the window wondering where their relationship was headed. It had been a little tumultuous these last couple of months, and she wasn’t as confident in him as she used to be. Honestly, she didn’t know what happened to her.
